Pre-Fold Diapers and Covers
Chinese Pre-folds
Diaper Service Quality (aka DSQ) Chinese pre-folds provide the basics for any diapering system.
Made from unbleached cotton, these can be used with any of our covers and also stuffed into pocket
diapers. Prefolds are perfect for every baby and can be used as burp cloths, instant changing pads
and extra wipes too!
How many will I need?
You will need 3-4 dozen diapers in each size. Most newborns will fit in infant size if the diaper is
turned horizontally and folded. However, we recommend the newborn size for preemies, so please contact
us to order those.

Pocket Diapers
What is a pocket diaper exactly?
Pocket diapers consist of a waterproof outer layer, a moisture-wicking inner layer and a pocket to place
an absorbent layer in. Most pocket diapers have PUL (polyurethane laminate) as the waterproof layer, with
microfleece or suedecloth as the inner layer next to baby's skin. The inner layer draws the wetness away
from the skin and into the absorbent insert inside the pocket. Pocket diapers can be stuffed with an array
of inserts depending on your baby’s wetness.
How many will I need?
You will need 12-18 pocket diapers in each size for your babe. Expect to be doing laundry every other day.
Some folks use pocket diapers exclusively for night diapers.

How to Wash Diapers
The simplest method for washing diapers is called the “dry pail” method. Line a diaper pail or large wastebasket
with a washable pail liner and place soiled diapers and wraps in the container. We recommend a 2 part wash system,
once in Cold and once in Hot, to insure your diapers get completely clean.

A Note on Leaks
At one time or another, every diaper will leak. However, if you are finding that your baby is wet or poopy at every changing, you may be using the wrong diaper in size, shape or absorbency. Also, as the baby grows so will his/her diapering needs. We are happy to consult with you about your challenges and look forward to helping you find solutions to keep your baby happy and dry.
Hemp Fabric in Diapers
We offer a few products that have a combination of hemp and cotton due to the wonderful properties of hemp. Hemp fabric is naturally anti-microbial. Babies in hemp are given an additional protection from bacteria, mold, mildew and fungus which can result in less diaper rash. Also, due to the porous nature of the fiber, hemp is more absorbent than cotton and can breathe, so it is cool in summer and warm in winter.
Baby Carriers
Benefits of Baby Wearing
All over the world, babies are carried by adults and older children through the rhythms of daily life. Recently, there
has been a resurgence of baby wearing in the U.S., Canada and Europe as the benefits of baby wearing have become clear.
- Moms are more relaxed, have their arms free and can do something other than hold the baby. A mother’s progesterone is increased through physical contact with the baby, leading to a more intimate maternal bond, easier breastfeeding and better care, thus lowering the incidence of postpartum depression and psychosomatic illness.
- Babies who are carried are calmer – all their basic needs are met by a caregiver who can be seen, heard, smelled and touched.
- Babies spend more time in a quiet state of attentive alertness, ideal for learning.
- Babies have an opportunity to bond with father, older siblings, grandparents and other caregivers. Wearing babies fosters trust and attachment.
